A summary of the benefits available to first home buyers and others in Victoria can be found in the latest bulletin from the State Revenue Office. The July 2005 bulletin (SRO Bulletin) explains the requirements for eligibility for:

The $7000 First Home Owner Grant
The Victorian First Home Bonus of $5000 (until 31 December 2005 whereupon it becomes $3000)
Off the plan Duty concessions
Duty benefits for eligible pensioners
Duty benefits for first home buyers with families
Abolition of mortgage Duty.

Posted 17/8/05: Body Corporate Action Group – ACORNS (Action by Concerned Owners, Residents and a Number of Stakeholders). Group meets first Monday of the month at 2PM at Ross House (Jenny Florence Room on 3rd Floor), 247 Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Under the auspices of Housing for the Aged Action Group Tel: 9654 7389. Group Aims: emotional support and discussion for those with body corporate problems, lobbying for improvements, formation of unit owner/resident association.

Posted 13/8/05: The proposed Mitcham apartment towers, a 17 and 11 storey development will now go ahead following a decision in the Victorian Supreme Court, Court of Appeal (see Whitehorse City Council v Golden Ridge Investments Pty Ltd & Ors [2005] VSCA 198 (11 August 2005)). The site will include 199 apartments, shops, a gymnasium and car parking. There were 600 objections for the proposal.
